7.2.0-Release

BlueQuartz Software is proud to release version 7.2.0 of DREAM3D-NX. This smaller update contains a few key bug fixes and introduces a few small but nice features.

What's New and Fixed in DREAM3D-NX Version 7.2.0

  • 2D Charting

    Generate 2D Charts from your data right inside of DREAM3D-NX. Quickly copy the chart as an image to paste in your documents or save the chart as a standard image format. Histogram, Bar, Line and Scatter chart types are available. More are planned for the future!

Other Important Enhancements and Bug fixes

  • 2D Charting has arrived in DREAM3D-NX. This feature is early on in its life cycle but you can already perform a wide variety of plots: Histogram, Bar, Line and Scatter plots.
  • Build Plate annotations can now be oriented in any direction.
  • Pipeline actions can be undone if you accidentally delete or add a filter.
  • New Filters added: Write SPParks Sites File
  • Filter Changes: All alignment filters can save the produced shifts to a DataArray.

Known Issues

  • Synthetic Building Filters are not yet implemented
  • Long visualization operations can lock up the GUI. Please be patient for those operations to end.
  • Compute Feature Centroids will not respect periodic boundaries in a model
  • The Anaconda version will not save your GUI window layout correctly. The workaround is to create a layout to your liking and save it as a preset.
  • Computing Volumes from Triangle Features will not work correctly unless all triangle normals are consistent and the surface mesh is watertight.

  • Quickly Copy Rendering to the Clipboard

    Use the "Right Click" menu to quickly create a copy of the current rendering window.

    Use the "File->Save State" and "File->Load State" to save and load the complete state of DREAM3D-NX from a file.

  • Quick 90 Camera Rotations

    This allows you to quickly rotate 90 degrees around the current axis of the camera.

  • Fixed a pair of memory leaks when using the visualization feature
  • You can now save the complete state of DREAM3D-NX to a file and then use that the next time you start DREAM3D-NX
  • FILTER: ITK Projection Filters (#1162) [2025-01-16]
  • FILTER: Add WriteNodesAndElementsFiles filter (#1168) [2025-01-03]
  • FILTER: Crop Edge Geometry (#1153) [2024-12-11]

After 2.5 years of development, over 200K lines of code, 14 release candidates, BlueQuartz Software is proud to announce the official version 7.0.1 of DREAM3D-NX. This crucial update adds a multitude of features and enhancements to the venerable DREAM.3D application including built in 3D visualization for the first time.

This is the 7.0.0 Release Candidate 13. Below are listed the many bug fixes and updates that have gone into this release.

  • Release Date: AUG 05 2024

Known Issues

  • Undocking a widget, then using the native "close" button to hide the widget may crash DREAM3D-NX
  • An issue was identified with the monoclinic symmetry operators. Orientation calculations that depend on a monoclinic crystal symmetry may be incorrect.
  • After creating a visualization split view where the "Spreadsheet View" is the new view type, closing that split will cause DREAM3D-NX to possibly crash
  • The histogram generation in the "Compute Attribute Array Statistics" may possibly be erroneous. See https://github.com/BlueQuartzSoftware/simplnx/issues/1044 for more information.
  • Synthetic Building Filters are not yet implemented
  • This update breaks a lot of pipelines (and python codes if you were an early adopter) that were created using any DREAM3D-NX versions prior to RC-12. Warnings are emitted in the user interface if you load a pipeline that does not define the proper filter parameter keys. A suggestion is listed for each warning that should be close to the correct change. The user should make a back up of their pipeline before hand editing the pipeline in a text editor. You can also use the nxrunner --convert-output [path/to/d3dpipeline] to run a sanity check on your pipeline file.

Warnings are emitted in the user interface if you load a pipeline that does not define the proper filter parameter keys. A suggestion is listed for each warning that should be close to the correct change. The user should make a back up of their pipeline before hand editing the pipeline in a text editor.
  • Long visualization operations can lock up the GUI. Please be patient for those operations to end.
